to be fair, when dealing with any group of individuals in a school environment you are going to run across a vast spectrum of hobbies and interests (especially when those individuals come from all walks of life and sub-cultures). Still, understanding that means showing off your star wars "knowledge" should fit into the "wait until you know someone is into that kind of thing" category. For myself, I can only say that I balance my interest in graphic novels (known as comic books to the educated man, which are dorky as all get out) with a healthy interest in martial arts and generally kicking butt (which helps preclude undue consequences from the former).
